Terms of use

These are short, and written to be read. By using Health Index you're agreeing to them.

Not medical advice

Health Index is a personal tracking tool. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not a source of clinical advice. Nothing in it diagnoses, treats, prevents or predicts any condition, and the score is a reflection of what you chose to log — not an assessment of your health.

Do not use it to make medical decisions, and do not use it in place of talking to a qualified professional. If you think you have a medical problem, speak to a doctor. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.

1. This is a beta

Health Index is in a limited, invite-only beta. That means, plainly:

  • Things will break, and features may change or be removed.
  • There's no guarantee of availability, uptime or continuity.
  • There's no guarantee against data loss. The app carries versioned migrations and a full export you can take at any time — please use it — but during a beta nobody honest promises zero loss.
  • The beta may end, and access may be withdrawn, at any time.

It's provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

2. Minimum age

You must be at least 13 to use Health Index — or at least 16 if you're in the European Economic Area.

3. Invites

  • Invites are personal to you and aren't transferable.
  • Access can be revoked — for abuse, or simply because the beta ends. Revoking access doesn't touch the data on your device.
  • Requesting an invite doesn't entitle you to one. It's a small beta and the queue moves at whatever pace is manageable.

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Submit automated, bulk or junk requests through the invite or feedback forms, or work around the checks on them.
  • Attempt to gain access to accounts, data or systems that aren't yours.
  • Use the feedback channel to send abusive content, other people's personal information, or anything unlawful.
  • Attempt to disrupt the service for other users.

5. Your data, and your content

What you log stays yours, and stays on your device — see the privacy policy. Feedback you send us is text you chose to submit; we use it to improve the product. Don't send us anything you'd mind us reading.

6. Intellectual property

Health Index — the application, its scoring model, its design and this site — is proprietary and not open source. It's provided under a restrictive licence for personal use during the beta. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from it.

Being a web app, its client code is inherently inspectable in your browser. We don't pretend otherwise, and we don't obfuscate to make a point of it — but inspectable is not the same as licensed, and this section is what governs.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of Health Index, including lost data or any decision you made based on what the app displayed.

Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, your statutory rights aren't affected.

8. Changes

These terms may change as the product does. Material changes will be flagged to beta users rather than quietly edited in, and the date at the top will move.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — without affecting any right you have to bring a claim in your own country of residence as a consumer.
